About Carla

Carla's journey in horticulture began with a rigorous academic foundation at Capel Manor (Regent’s Park), where she earned her RHS Level 2 in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development. Building on this, she attained the RHS Level 3 in Plants and Planting, a qualification that bridges the gap between botanical science and high-end aesthetic design.

Before setting up Dragonflies and Lavender, she honed her craft on the ground, working for a maintenance team, maintaining private gardens within the Blackheath Cator Estate and Greenwich.

Her design philosophy is strictly client-led; listening to how you want to live in your space and translate that into a reality that respects your budget. By focusing on economically chosen planting schemes and sustainable materials, she ensures your investment delivers maximum impact. More importantly, every project is approached with kindness and thoughtfulness. Respect for your privacy, your home, and your time, treating the garden with love and dedication.

When you work with Carla, you are benefiting from industry-leading experience. In 2025, she had the privilege of joining the professional planting teams at both the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. She brings that same gold-standard attention to detail from the world’s most prestigious show gardens directly to your outdoor space.​

Carla lives in Southeast London with her husband and two children. When she isn't working for client's, she is visiting National Trust and/or local public gardens, reading about plants or doing something horticultural related.
